It's been forever...

So it really has been forever since I wrote a blog post. There has been so much going on in my life in the last few weeks that I'm going to start blogging once again. Hardcore this time! I promise. I'm in the middle of putting together my Leah Jee music team. The positions are filling in quicky with people who truly believe in me and my music. It feels so great to have their support - the support that you guys have had all along for me will not be in vain! We are getting things rolling with increasing myspace and facebook usage, showing you more live and personal videos, updating my website, taking new photos, starting fanclub all over California, new merch including hats and tshirts and other collectible stuff, and so much other stuff I can't think straight! I'll have a new blog that is going to rock soon.

And pretty soon, you'll be so stoked to say that you knew Leah Jee back in the day when she hanging out in Golden Gate park playing for the joggers or when she was walking down Maryland Ave with her guitar in Milwaukee serenading the Eastside.

All the pieces are coming together and I'm so happy to tell you about it. I'm on the journey to become a rockstar. I'll keep writing about it. It'll be worth the read.

XO Leah

So today we have been rearranging the house. It's not very musical, but it is helping contribute to a more creative space. It's finally starting to feel like things are falling into place here. It's very exciting! This week, I'm going to start praciting with my new bassist Mike and see what happens with that. Also, we're searching for a drummer - the search still continues, but I'm confident the right person is coming soon =) if you know anyone, send 'em our way!

Hello!

Thanks to all of you who came out to the show on Wednesday night. It was a great time, a short set, but you guys made it seem so awesome! I got some great feedback, and I have already been contacted by the booking company to start playing other places. We'll see what develops with that.

Also, More good news.... You Follow has been picked up by an indie radio station that broadcasts all over the place. I'm getting some more recognition here!

And, a new band member has been confirmed. His name is Mike and he plays bass. We're going to be going forward with Fly By Stereo. I'll be playing acoustic shows until the band is ready to go. More updates to come.

It's raining and cold here in California. I'm going to finish up work today and then head out on the town to get a lot of errands accomplished. Much to do today, Have a safe and awesome start to the weekend and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

So hello everyone! I took a look at the stats and it appears that there have been a ton of people checking out the updates. Man, did i drop the ball. You guys are looking for word from me and i've left you hanging for so long. So here's the deal. I'm going to blog everyday. Even if it's just a few lines or 5 minutes of jimma jammer =)

Things are shaping up finally and I'm going to be playing shows in California soon. I'm working on putting the band together and I think that I have some solid leads. Cross your fingers, knock on wood, have a drink with a friend and play one of my songs.

Farewell Milwaukee Show - April 3 @ BBC!

Hey Everyone....

Just asking you all to save the date... April 3 is our final show in Milwaukee as a full time Milwaukee band.

It will be full band and we'll rock your face off. If you were at our CD Release show party, it will be similar to that. And that was a great time.

Soon after we'll be leaving for California, switching band names and rocking the west coast before we swing through here at least twice this summer on tour (no details yet but our nationwide tour and Milwaukee Pridefest is in the works).

Please come to this show. It's April 3 at BBC.

There will be more info to follow - just wanted to make sure you all got it on your calendars so you can celebrate with us.

XOXO Leah and Phil & The Boys

This was our posting from yesterday.... 11/4/08

Hey Everyone!

Today is a big day for our nation. It's time for change and it starts with you getting off your butt and getting down to your polling place.

Please don't think that your vote, just that one vote, won't matter.

Do your part. Get up, get out and vote for some kind of change. Any kind of change my dear friends. We are in great need of it.

Leah Jee & The Boys are doing our part. We're volunteering and playing tunes for the students in line at college campuses around Milwaukee.

Join us on this great day.

XOXO Leah & Phil

BBC was .... HOT!

Hello everyone!

Whew! This past Saturday night, BBC was rockin with Acoustic Hotness. What a great time! Thanks to all the fans that came out to see the show. Special thanks to BBC for having us again, and Hail Archer and Now You Have Audio (one of our absolutely fave MKE bands) for playing with us!

The show had a great crowd, great energy and was a ton of fun to play. We headlined and it was a blast! We played 15 songs! Tony and I were the only two performers to stand at all and play during the show, in all the bands!

It was great to see that 90% of the audience that was there when the show started was there when the show was ending and we finished our set. You don't know how much that means to us. It's always hard being the headlining band in WI. I don't know why. I mean, really, the headlining band should be the closing band and maintain the fanbase, but in WI this is how it works: the 2nd band is like the headlining band, and people leave during the actual headlining band. Weird, right? But on Saturday, Milwaukee fans proved that wrong!

The band was Leah, Phil and Tony. We even did 3 part harmony. Awesome!

Here's our set list:
WHAT DOES IT MATTER TO YOU
GREAT DIVIDE
*SAY IT AIN’T SO
YOU FOLLOW
*PLUSH
SWEET GIRL
*FOR WHAT IT’S WORTH
I’M JUST SAYING
*DRIVE
BETTER IT BECOMES
*YOUR LOVE
HERO IN ME
*STRAIGHT UP
POIGNANT
THE PERFECT END

* indicates cover song

All in all, great night and great show. We'll be playing one more show at BBC before we leave and have already confirmed Now You Have Audio will be playing as a full back rockin out with us!

XOXO Leah

WMSE Local/Live On Air Performance

WMSE was a B-L-A-S-T
Current mood: S-T-O-K-E-D

So i know this blog supercedes many of the events that we have done in the past 4 months, but i'm sitting here in the computer room listening to the cd that we just got from playing at WMSE. And it's a good time to hit the keyboard and tell you guys how rad a time we just had.

Tonight, we played live on 91.7 WMSE radio program Live & Local. It features Milwaukee musicians and tries to promote original music. And we love that. And that's exactly what we are.

When we got there, Billy informed us that the transmitter for WMSE had been struck by lightning last night and was no longer working. But our performance would be available via itunes and the internet. How funny right? Note to self: Lightning rods are a good thing.

So I was lucky to have a solid band playing with me tonight and the energy was amazing with everyone.

The lineup for Leah Jee & The Boys tonight was:
Leah Jee - vocals and guitar
Phil Malko - guitar and backup vocals
Tony Lentz - bass & backup vocals

We had a great time playing acoustic tunes to promote our show this coming Saturday at BBC.

Our 30 minutes of air time included:
You Follow
Poignant
What Does It Matter To You
-Interview with Radio Dave-
Hero In Me
Better It Becomes
The Perfect End

Billy and all the WMSE-ers were so friendly and helpful and knew exactly what they were doing. We got a copy of the songs and will have those for sale soon [hmmm... Saturday perhaps?]. And we'll have a video of the acoustic jam session that will be up in about a month. Very cool.

All in all, we had a great time, played a very tight show, and even signed the book. We'll have pics of that too =)

Hope you all enjoyed it, those of you who got to hear it right now. It will be archived soon and I'll post a link in another blog for that too.

So, there's a blog that's right when the action has happened. I told you i'd get better =)

Check out www.wmse.org for more about Leah Jee & The Boys on WMSE Live and Local.

XOXO Leah

Recap of Liar's Club

So.. This has already been one heck of a crazy morning… And in between phone calls, morning meetings and taking out the puppy, I finally got a second to myself. And now I’m sitting here wondering, “When was my last blog entry?” I can’t even remember. That’s horrible. “We’ve got to do something about this,” I said to myself. So I’m putting on the new Trio cd (fabulous, absolutely fabulous cd by the way) and we’re going to get to updating.

And here we are. Are you ready for some updates? Ok, here we go…

Last time we talked, we had just played the cd release show… so much has happened since then. Let’s start with the show at the Liar’s Club.

LIARS’S CLUB
All in all, it was a good night in Chicago. We ended up closing out the night for the band Ceremony, which was on its US tour. They are from Australia, just got signed with Universal EMI and were rockin in the US. We got the gig when Happenin’ Harry from LA gave me a call and asked if we could head down to Chi-town to play with these fellows at last minute’s notice. We’re up for a good show and a good challenge (it would be Brian’s first show with us). So we took up the offer. Chicago here we come!

So Brian, Jim and I packed up the Leah Jeep and cruised down to the Windy City and ended up playing at the very end of the night. We were so thankful that our friends and fans stayed to hear us. We were scheduled to play at 930, but you know how things go… sometimes you play 3+ hours after you were scheduled to go on… not very often but it happens. You fans that were there are by far the coolest people I know to stick it out with us.

We did a great job. But it was a crazy trip including: a 12 person tour bus… for 6 people, private meetings, Wendy’s there, Wendy’s at 4am, the best picture of a fat tire pint ever taken, sitting at the elevated table like we were too cool for school, spending time with some great friends….

And with all that in mind, this show was a great way to bring me back to all that is important to me. Playing music is the most wonderful thing in the world. I live for playing you a song and seeing you rock out. I just want to make sure that everyone out there knows how THANKFUL I am to be a musician and play every single show that we have. There is no such thing as a stupid show to this girl here or anyone in my band. Give me a chance to get up there. I’ll play in places that you never thought I could. Because I love music. I love performing. When you lose that, what’s the point? Being a musician isn’t about the stereotypical things you know rock n roll to be like sex and drugs and being the coolest kid on the block. It comes with it of course. But really what matters is playing MUSIC! When musicians lose sight of that, it’s really sad. Where is your heart? If you’re just in a band to get laid, then I don’t know what to say… I guess it speaks for itself. Don't lose sight people. Music rules.

So I’ll do one update a day to make sure that you get something to read. You deserve it. You check this blog. And I love you for it =)

XO Leah
